Dentists are meeting regulations with Office 365

Office 365 works extraordinarily well for Dentists. With a single solution, dental practice owners get robust and encrypted email, document sharing, team calendars, even a video-conferencing system.

Just imagine - your patient is sitting in the dentist’s chair, in the middle of a root canal procedure. They see the X-ray machine hanging from the ceiling. They see the electric drill. They don’t see the encrypted email system—although it might have the most to do with the success of your dental practice.

Encrypted email? Although it might seem more the stuff of spycraft, encrypted email is also very much on the minds of most dentists, thanks to CQC privacy regulations. And those dentists are thinking of more than just securing their correspondence. In the course of providing the best treatment, they may want to send an X-ray or other image to a colleague or specialist for a consultation. That’s where the encrypted email comes in.

Unfortunately, that’s also where, traditionally, high cost has come in as well. Dental practices are small businesses, with traditionally small-business budgets. Few dentist's budgets have room for the expense of an enterprise-class email system and, understandably, few dentists are willing to abandon the investment they made in their last set of mail servers until they absolutely have to.

Here at DISDental IT, we know these concerns well. We have been providing computer support and IT services to dentists across the UK for the last 11 years.

Dentists are now meeting their technology needs in ways not possible just a few years ago. For example, dentists are avoiding large capital expenditures previously associated with purchasing computer servers by adopting cloud computing solutions such as Microsoft Office 365.

Office 365 works extraordinarily well with our customer base. With a single solution, our dental practice owners get robust and encrypted email, document sharing, team calendars, even a video-conferencing system. There are no servers to buy, so it’s more affordable.

One of our customers who have already made the change and are using the Office365 system are Iosis Dental, who have two branches and two mobile dental units providing services across Hampshire, Surrey, and Berkshire. The dentists and staff communicated frequently between offices, sometimes to share patient information with another office location, sometimes to update calendars for staff who split their time among offices. The communications were typically made by phone—and typically cumbersome and disruptive. The practice adopted Office 365, not just to share patient records and update calendars, but also to ensure that every employee had the latest version of practice documents, and even to save the thousands of pounds it was about to spend on a teleconferencing service.

Today, we can use the cloud to help dental practices run better and at lower costs. All of this can be supplied from just £7.80+VAT, per user, per calendar month.
